Belgium– Threats and Curses against an Orthodox Jew on the Brussels-Antwerp Train

On 15th February 2006, an Orthodox Jew boarded the Brussels-Antwerp train. On the train he was subject to verbal abuse and threats by a young thug of North African origin. The latter sat opposite him and took a metal object out of this bag and threatened the man with it. The victim stood up and ran and looked for the ticket collector who called the railway police. The young thug was arrested when he got off at the platform at Berchem, a suburb of Antwerp. A search of the attacker turned up stolen jewelry. The Jewish victim filed a complaint with the railway police.
