Britain – Two hurt in racist attack

A Jewish Frenchman was racially assaulted with a baseball bat, wooden sticks and a rock on Tuesday, as he left a Golders Green restaurant with his brother.

The man, who was in the country visiting his brother, a UK resident, were leaving a restaurant at 9.30pm when three men shouted anti-Semitic abuse at them. Ten minutes later, as they walked towards Golders Green Tube station, on Golders Green Road, the men approached the pair armed with a baseball bat, sticks and a rock and again shouted racial abuse.
The brothers split up at this point and the victim was chased by two of the suspects, who started to hit him with the wooden sticks and threw the rock at him, which missed.

Despite defending himself by covering his face with his arms, he suffered a number of bruises, a swollen lip and cuts to his face and arms. He managed to grab a wooden stick from one of the suspects and the two attackers then ran off towards Brent Street. The victim met up with his brother outside Tesco, who had been hit once with a stick causing a cut on his arm.
