Czech – Antisemitic Mail to a Jewish Woman Suing for her Family’s Property

On 9th February 2007, an antisemitic letter was sent to Ms. Tugenshat, Jewish woman residing in Germany, who has sued for the return of her family’s property that was plundered during World War II in the Czech city of Brno. The property, Villa Tugenshat, a stately villa with unique architectural features is now the property of the City of Brno. The suit has been given broad publicity, and indeed the entire issue of the return of property in the region is a subject of controversy. Ms. Tugenshat sold a statue from the villa after which she received a letter which read: “That was a typically Jewish disgusting act, what you did with the statue”.
