Egypt– The Mufti of Egypt Denounces the New Edition of “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”

On 1st January 2007, over three years after the publication in Egypt of the new edition of “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” called “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and Their Biblical and Talmudic Sources” authored jointly by Dr. Ahmad Al-Hijazi al-Saqa (professor of Comparative Religion Research at the Al-Azhar University) and Hasham Khathar (a journalist working for the Qatari newspaper A-Sharq) and distributed among the Arab/Muslim communities in Britain and most probably in other countries outside Egypt, a clarification was published by Dr. ‘Ali Jama’a, the Mufti of Egypt, in the widely read newspaper Al-Aharam. In this article the Mufti categorically denies that he had written the introduction to “This spurious, totally baseless book (the “Protocols”). Therefore, the Mufti notes, he sent a legal caveat to the publishers of the “Protocols” in which he demanded that the introduction be removed from the copies they have in stock and to refrain from publishing it without his permission.
