‘Britain – Racist death threats’ sent to Chelsea manager Grant

Avram Grant, the manager of Chelsea Football Club, has been sent a suspicious package containing death threats and a white powder.

The parcel was reportedly opened by a staff member at the club’s training ground in Cobham yesterday.
According to police sources, both the Israeli manager and his wife Tzofit received threats against their lives.

Surrey police said they did not confirm details of individuals involved in ongoing inquiries, but press reports today say the package included the threat: “You are a back-stabbing Jewish bastard.”

“When you open this letter you will die a very slow and painful death.”

A spokesman for Surrey police said the force was called to Chelsea’s training ground at about 12:15 GMT yesterday after being contacted about the suspicious package
“A white powder contained within the package was analysed by specialists and found to be harmless,” he added.

Detectives are continuing investigations to identify the source of the package.”
The club has so far not commented on reports of death threats made against its manager, who replaced Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge in September last year.
