The victims were on their way to a shopping centre after finishing school. They were from a Jewish school and were wearing their uniforms. A group of white boys aged about 13-14 years old started being verbally abusive towards them. They started saying “it’s disgusting being on a bus with all these Jews” and “fucking Jews”. The victims were then physically assaulted. One of the victims had chewing gum spat into her hair, another was kicked and the other victim was spat at in the face.
