USA – U.S. slams antisemitic Honduran radio broadcaster

American ambassador to Honduras Hugo Llorens has condemned anti-Jewish remarks by a Honduran radio show host, calling them “disgusting.” Radio Globo station manager David Romero, speaking about Israel’s alleged involvement in the coup that deposed Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, said that “I believe it should have been fair and valid to let Hitler finish his historic vision.” Romero later apologized for what he called his “stupid” comments.

In a letter to Radio Globo owner Alejandro Villatoro, Llorens said he was “shocked” at the remarks. “Hitler’s concentration camps and Holocaust constitute one of the most shameful acts of human history. How can it be that your station employs as its news director a man who does not understand this?,” the letter said. “Mr. Romero’s commentary makes a mockery of any pretense he may have of solidarity with people who struggle against injustice,” it added.
