The victim was seeing a consultant about an ongoing medical problem to do with his digestive system. Seeing that the victim had been putting on weight, he commented that “if you would have been in Belsen you would have been thin”.
The victim immediately complained that this was offensive. The doctor concerned knew that the victim was Jewish.
