Al Jazeera Network launched today, starting from early morning, a special day of broadcasts from the Jordanian side of the Allenbey Border Crossing. The network’s correspondent welcomed and interviewed the deportees that took part in the Gaza flotilla.
One of the testimonies – a particularly harsh one – was that of Zamila Osaima, the Network’s internet correspondent, who was also on board the “Marmara” ship.
“It started at 22:30 in the evening. We started to see by radar the first battle ships”, told the Network’s correspondent who was on board. “The journalists were notified about it. Everyone on our ship was required to wear life belts. The battle ships arrived at 23:00 and, without giving any warning, started to throw bombs and grenades – causing the death of my colleague from the IHH organization. He was a newspaper photographer and fire was opened at him. I saw two dead Turkish people. They were killed in front of my eyes. I saw them dying in front of me”.
The ‘testimony’ from the ship continues: “My friends managed to take control of three soldiers, but were then forced to release them. When Israel realized that the captain doesn’t intend to change the ship’s course, the soldiers took the baby of one the ship’s Turkish engineers – one year and 3 months old – and pointed a gun to his head, until the captain changed the ship’s course”.
