Belgium – Attack against members of the Jewish community in Anvers

Two men, ages 35-40, of Polish origin, at a bench located on the corner of Isabellalei and Langeleemstraat. They were apparently drunk and continued to drink alcohol.

When the prayers, who had exited the synagogue, approached the place, the two men turned violent.

They began shouting antisemitic calls in Dutch and Polish towards the passers-by. Afterwards, they initiated physical violence and attempted to attack the passers-by.

A police patrol was alerted to the place. When the police officers arrived at the place, they discerned the state of the two men and arrested them. During the arrest, one of the men called his friends in Polish to meet later at the place and teach the Jews a lesson (his words were translated by a Polish speaker who was present at the place).

Two hours later, the CKJGA learned that the Poles were still at the place and were continuing to drink. Since they gathered again, and caused noise during prayer time, the police were called again. When they arrived at the place, they scattered the people that were present there.
