Budapest – Anonymous perpetrators vandalized the
holocaust memorial site, known as the “Shoes on the Danube Bank”, and stole
some of the shoes. Inaugurated in 2005, this memorial monument was created in
memory of the Budapest victims who were shot and thrown to the Danube River by
members of the “Arrow Cross” (Translator’s comment: Hungarian
fascists during the nineteen thirties and forties).
