Report of antisemitic incidents in Berlin for 2016

In 2016 the research and information center on antisemitism in Berlin (RIAS) recorded 470 antisemitic incidents in Berlin, of which 17 were physical attacks, 18 threats, 53 were reported as vandalism of Jewish property or Holocaust memorials and 382 were incidents of abusive behavior, while 80 were cases of verbal attacks. In 152 cases the attacks were online and directed specifically against Jewish people or institutions. Another 150 cases were non-verbal expressions, such as antisemitic propaganda, graffiti and letters. RIAS reported that there have been no incidents of extreme violence in 2016.
