Jewish cemetery desecrated

Source: point

Soroki – Unknown persons have damaged several dozen graves in a Jewish cemetery in Soroki.

The event took place on the weekend of the previous week, apparently on April 17. According to the Head of the Jewish community in Soroki, Semion Wexler, the perpetrators damaged more than 10 tomb stones and memorial plaques.

“Some of the grave stones were turned over, others were broken. In total I counted more than 10 graves that had been damaged. I can’t even imagine who could have thought about this idea” said the community leader.

Semion Wexler informed the police inspectors about the incident and filed a complaint with a demand to check the incident. But, according to Wexler, the law enforcement bodies assumed that the “vandalism” might have occurred as a result of strong winds.
