Hanover – In the Vahrenwald leisure center in Hanover, a room was daubed with antisemitic slogans.
According to police, a witness caught two people putting up several signs on Tuesday evening. They fled undetected.
According to the leisure center, the perpetrators used pens that were in the room for a blackboard for general use. Now the slogans will be painted over before the room is reopened next week. The police are investigating property damage. Due to the possible political background of the lettering, the police state security was also involved.
Hanover’s mayor Belit Onay (Greens) appeared shocked on Instagram : “I am horrified and angry about the act.” This “anti-Semitic attack” is not just an attack against Jews, writes Onay, “but on all of us and thus on cohesion in our city.” This must be addressed resolutely.
