Luxembourg – At the Escher “Lycée technique de Lallange”, a 19-year-old LTL student repeatedly gave the Hitler salute on the school grounds and insulted a Jewish classmate in an antisemitic manner. Among other things, he said to the student: “You are Jewish, you should have been gassed.” He also made antisemitic statements that were not specifically directed at the student.
The school called the police, but decided against expelling him from the school . The headmaster of the LTL, Claude Loesch, reports to the daily newspaper that, in addition to informing the police, a disciplinary council has also been convened at the school. This dealt with how to deal with the case and the student. Loesch explains that because of the student’s “health condition” and “above all because of the suspicion of Asperger’s syndrome”, the council decided that the 19-year-old could stay at the school. According to the headmaster, the syndrome means that those affected “cannot always correctly assess the effect of their social interaction”.
