Plœuc-L’Hermitage – Antisemitic and neo-Nazi inscriptions were discovered on Saturday July 15 on the commemorative monument of La Butte Rouge, in the town of Plœuc-L’Hermitage, in the Côtes-d’Armor. La Butte Rouge is an emblematic site of the French Resistance . In 1944, during the Second World War, 55 people, martyrs, resistants or hostages, were executed by the Nazis in the forest of Lorge .
According to our information, these tags were discovered late Saturday morning by a member of the association that manages the Butte Rouge site. The gendarmes of the Moncontour brigade went on site to make the first observations.
All of the commemorative stones and explanatory panels have been tagged with red paint. You can read inscriptions like “death to the Jews” and swastikas and double lightning bolts have been drawn. “The site is in a wooded area, the facts were surely committed during the night from Friday to Saturday” , explains the gendarmerie.
