According to experts, there were 204 antisemitic incidents in Brandenburg last year. This was announced by Kreuzberg initiative against antisemitism KIgA e. V.
That was almost 45 percent more than in 2020, when 141 incidents were counted.
However, information from social media and websites has also been included since 2022. The two figures are therefore only comparable to a limited extent.
Almost half of the antisemitic cases in 2022, 98 in total, had a right-wing extremist or right-wing populist background. Most of the antisemitic incidents last year were in Potsdam and in the Märkisch-Oderland district, each with 22.
For the report, the Kreuzberg initiative against antisemitism summarized the figures from the statistics of politically motivated crime from the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) with its own reports and those of civil society partners.
In the police statistics, the number of antisemitic crimes rose from 150 in 2021 to 195 last year.
