Written in Polish, the phrase “Śmierć żydzewskiej kurwie” translates to “Death of a Jewish Whore”. This is a slogan that is known, among other things, from right-wing extremist circles and the hooligan scene. The word “Kurwa”, meaning “slut”/”whore”, can be used in a derogatory manner to people of any gender or to organizations such as football clubs. From the context of the incident, it is not clear whether the sentence is directed at a specific person or whether it is unaddressed vulgarity.
If the word “Jew” or “Jewish” is used as a swear word, it is a case of antisemitic othering. In antisemitic othering, Jews are described as alien or as not belonging to the respective majority society. This manifestation occurs again and again, intertwined with sexist or racist hostilities.
