PSV was fined 20,000 euros (of which 7,500 euros conditionally) on Friday for antisemitic chants. Supporters of the club were guilty of this in July during the duel for the Johan Cruijff Scale with Ajax. The amount to be paid is lower than the fine that was initially imposed.

Last month, the KNVB decided to fine PSV 20,000 euros. PSV refused to pay it. According to the 24-time national champion, the football association measures double standards, because Ajax fans chanted “All farmers are gays” during the last home games against PSV.

Due to PSV’s refusal, the case came before the disciplinary committee, which has now determined that the club from Eindhoven has done too little to prevent the anti-Semitic chants.

“PSV has also acknowledged that insufficient measures have been taken, but the settlement proposal of the prosecutor – an unconditional fine of 20,000 euros – was much too high,” the KNVB said in a statement.

“Partly on the basis of PSV’s limited penalty card with regard to this type of behaviour, the disciplinary committee has partially imposed the fine conditionally.”

The second half of the Eredivisie season starts on Friday 6 January with FC Twente-FC Emmen. PSV plays at home against Sparta Rotterdam a day later. Ajax will visit NEC on Sunday 8 January.
