Russia – Monument in memory of Hungarian and Latvian POWs was desecrated

Novosibirsk – Unknown individuals vandalized a monument in memory of Hungarian and Latvian POWs in the former Camp No. 199 near Novosibirsk. POWs were in the camp from 1948-1944.

A red paint was spilled on the monument marking the Latvian prisoners, among other things on the inscription in the Latvian language and a Star of David and the words “enemy” and “Nazi” were spray-painted in the Russian language.

Red paint was also poured on the monument in memory of the Hungarian prisoners of war.
