Labour candidate compared Jewish MP to Nazi propaganda boss in vile social media post
Elaine Lightfoot is due to stand in West Devon next month and has been accused of spreading “pernicious Jew-hatred’ after sharing a social media post suggesting Dame Margaret Hodge used ‘lynching techniques’ developed by the Nazis. The post was published last August and went on to blast Labour MPs who had spoken of anti-Semitism of being “apologists for the Israeli government”, The Daily Telegraph reports. It continued: “Margaret Hodge and her fellow Blairite MPs are trying to destroy your democratic rights by using propaganda distortion lying techniques the Nazi chief propagandist Goebbels used.”
Ms Lightfoot is an officer in her local Labour branch and is described as “friendly and approachable” in a campaign branch on her Facebook page.
It goes on to say she is someone who “believes strongly” in protecting the “vulnerable”.
A Facebook post shared by Ms Lightfoot in July 2016 accused Labour MP Angela Eagle of being a “bankers b****”” who is owned by the Zionists”.
It was published shortly after Ms Eagle announced a leadership challenge against Corbyn and the posts ends with “thanks, but we’ll keep Corbyn”.
A Labour source said the party was investigating her posts “as a matter of urgency”.
