Orban honors antisemitic writer
Budapest – Hungary’s right-wing national minister-president Viktor Orban awarded a high-profile state-of-the-art tribute to a writer known for antisemitic remarks. The poet and essayist Kornel Döbrentei received the laurel wreath of Hungary, Hungarian media report. The award is awarded for writing achievements, the award suggests the Prime Minister.
Döbrentei, among others, in a 2004 speech to a right-wing protester, declared: “False prophets in disguises and masks – only their beard is real – conduct the moral Holocaust at the Hungarians.”
