Anne Frank slurs return in Rome
Rome – Lazio fans have seemingly aimed another antiemitic slur at Roma, just two days before the Derby della Capitale.
‘Romanista Anna Frank’ was spray-painted across a wall in the Circo Massimo area of Rome, along with a swastika and the initials.
Calciomercato.com reports police arrived at the scene immediately to remove the antiemitic remark.
“The writing on a wall that appeared near the Circo Massimo horrifies me,” Rome mayor Virginia Raggi wrote on Twitter.
“This filth isn’t about supporting a club. It’s not football. I thank the police in Rome for removing the writing immediately.
Nicola Zingaretti, President of the Lazio Region, added: “Some thugs have used football as a platform for their seedy insults once more.
“The Rome derby must be a moment of great participation, competition, respect and also humour. The rest is just a vile demonstration of ignorance.”
