Antisemitic graffiti on a mural in Berlin

Share
Source: RIAS

Berlin – A red Star of David was sprayed on a mural depicting Karl Marx painted on a wall of houses in the Friedrichshain area.

Marx’s image was part of a larger piece of street art, in which Karl Marx presents a poster about the border fence in Melilla (a Spanish city on the North African coast). Below the schematic description of the border facility is a quote by Marx: “No man is a fighter against freedom; at most he fights against the freedom of others.”

In anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, there is often a collective responsibility for Jews for revolutionary upheavals, and criticism of society is rejected as “Jewish.” According to this presentation, Marx is marked here as a Jew.
