Swastika painted on Poway family’s home during Hanukkah
Poway, CA – A hate crime investigation is underway after a swastika was spray painted on the side of a home in Poway just hours after the start of Hanukkah.
The vandalism was found shortly after 11 pm Sunday at a house on Ilene Street. A car was also vandalized with an unidentified fluid which stripped the paint. Two people in dark clothing were seen leaving the area.
A resident said he believed the hate crime was in response to the Hanukkah-themed lights they had just put up. I have said the incident will not stop his family from his beliefs.
Seibert’s decorations included the Star of David hanging from a tree in front of his house.
In the next few days, you will have security cameras in your yard.

“It’s the first time we’ve decorated for Chanukah, and it turned out to be a bad thing,” said Seibert, who has been living in that neighborhood for 11 years.
Investigators at the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said the vandalism, which they classify as a hate crime, occurred after 11 pm on Eilene Street on Sunday.
So far, there are no suspects but the family reported seeing two teenagers with sweatshirts walking on that street when the incident occurred.
