A drop in the number of antisemitic criminal offenses in the state of Thuringia
The number of criminal offenses that are characterized by hostility towards Jews and Israel has seen a decrease in the state of Thuringia. This fact arises from the numbers reported by the National Bureau of Crime Research (LKA) following an inquiry made by MDR Thuringia. During the the last six months of this year, according to the LKA, 32 such offenses had been reported, 7 less than the same period in 2017.
There was no data available concerning the identity of the perpetrators. In the past, they had been primarily extreme right-wingers. Antisemitic crimes include, among other things, relativizing the holocaust or outright denying it, or desecrating Jewish memorial sites with Nazi symbols.
