Man spared jail for antisemitic attack at Oxford Jewish center
Lewis Cairns, of Luther Street, Oxford, admitted racially aggravated harassment, alarm and distress as well as criminal damage at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on July 25.
The 31-year old had carried out the racist attack at the Chabad Student Center in Cowley Road on Saturday May 19 as well as damaging a wheelie bin.
Yesterday Magistrates ordered that he serve a suspended prison sentence for six weeks, suspended for 12 months.
He was also made subject to a 12-month community order to include an exclusion requirement not to enter between the junction of St Clement’s Street, Princess Street and James Street including the side streets of Cowley Road, Oxford.
Cairns must also take part in 20 days rehabilitation activity requirement and pay compensation of £200.
