A senior Education Ministry official who offered a reward for articles on “Jewish murderers” has been dismissed
The parliament in Lithuania voted for the dismissal of a senior Education Ministry official who offered a thousand euros to a student for writing an article on Jewish murderers.
The story begins in October. In an interview given by one of the best-known writers in the country, she raised doubts about the past of one of the national heroes, Adolphs Varga, and his relation to the murder of Jews. Vigilijus Sadauskas, the academic critic appointed by the Lithuanian parliament, published a post on his Facebook page inviting students and teachers to write a paper on the controversial subject.
