Russia – Criminal cases submitted due to incitement for nationalist and religious hatred
The prosecutor of Izhevsk in the Pervomaisky district approved the submission of indictments in criminal cases against two residents of the city of Votkinsk - Mokrushina Andrew, born in 1989, and a 17 year old youngster. They are accused of incitement for hatred or hostility, under sub-section 1 of article 282 to the penal law of the Russian Federation, and of contempt for human dignity.
A preliminary investigation suggested that on March 12th 2010 the two were responsible for writing “death to the Jews! The S.S” and for spraying two thunderbolts and a swastika on the wall of the Community Center for Jewish Culture in the Udmurtia Republic, on the wall of a building in Presovski street and on the fence of bath-house no. 2, with the intention to scorn the national dignity of those representing the Jewish nation in Russia.
