Home defaced with Nazi emblems
Grey Lynn, Auckland- An Auckland house has reportedly become the latest target of antisemitic graffiti following the desecration of Jewish headstones at a cemetery in Auckland last week.
Two men, aged 19 and 23, have been charged with wilful damage after it was discovered on Friday that Swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti had been spraypainted on a number of Jewish graves in a cemetery on Karangahape Road.
They are scheduled to appear in Auckland District Court this week.
In the latest incident, the New Zealand Herald reports that a Grey Lynn home under renovation has been defaced with Nazi emblems painted on its windows.
House owner Steve Saussey says he is stunned by the attack. He thinks the same people could be involved because of the timing and the fact the graffiti is so similar to that written on the headstones.
Police investigations are continuing and there may be further arrests.
