On Monday, the Deputy Mayor of Nice (UMP party) announced that he opposes Dieudonné performing in his city because, “courts have found him guilty of anti-Semitic statements.”

The Deputy Mayor emphasized that he hadn't seen the Acropolis Convention Center's April 2012 schedule until now. Mr. Estrosi promised he would do “everything in his power to prevent the show from happening.”

“On the national level, there are tensions between different sectors in society, and I refuse to allow someone who has been found guilty of anti-Semitic statements to perform in my city. People who disseminate incitement and hatred should know that they are not welcome here.”

Last month, the Commerce Court in La Rochelle ruled that Encan, which manages the convention center, must pay Dieudonné 40,000 euros  as compensation for canceling his performance.

In 2009, the Mayor of La Rochelle, Maxime Bono (PS party), decided to ban the show due to fears that the public order would be disrupted.
