No action against tram workers accused of anti-Jewish remarks

Amsterdam's public transport company GVB said on Thursday it will not be taking action against two tram workers accused of making derogatory remarks about Jews.

According to the complainant, the crew said the popular tourist attraction is 'the place where Jews earn money'. A similar incident was also reported to the public transport company a week later.

In a statement, the GVB said it 'took the complaints very seriously' and emphasised that such comments do not meet the company's norms and values.

However, both workers deny making such comments and have distanced themselves from the media coverage, the statement said. 'Like the GVB management, they deeply regret this situation has arisen.'
