Antisemitism within the Ukrainian police
Kiev – on the night between 7th and 8th of August 2012, around 2:00 AM in Kiev, on Shalom Aleichem Street, near the ATB store (17 Shalom Aleichem Street) a group of hooligans (15 people aged 20-30) who were probably drunk and under the influence of drugs, shouted at the top of their voices antisemitic exclamations like: “Hit the Jews and save Russia”, “Jews, suck our…”, “Slaughter Jews and pedophiles”.
In addition, they harassed passersby by shouting things like: “take off your pants, prove you are not a Jid.” while holding sticks and brass knuckles. Around 3:00 AM on August 8, 2012, about seven members of the group entered the ATB store waving their fists while holding brass knuckles (in the said store there are closed circuit cameras and this can be verified) harassed shoppers and continued roaring antisemitic exclamations. The hooligans beat some of the shoppers.
Policemen who were summoned to the scene expressed their negative attitude towards the Jewish people in words that would be very hard to repeat.
