A Hassidic young man came for vacation and was asked to leave the place because he is Jewish
Serfaus – last weekend a Hassidic young man from London arrived in the town of Serfaus, and booked a vacation apartment. But to his astonishment, when he came to get the keys, the owner informed him that he does not rent out apartments to Jews and certainly “not to Haredim.”
The apartment owner cursed the Hassidic man with appalling antisemitic slurs. “You had better leave the place” he told him.
The story shocked the Jewish residents of Austria, who are used in recent years to veiled antisemitism, but this case is considered especially aberrant.
The secretary of the Jewish community in Vienna, Mr. Abraham Pestenbauer, became involved and announced that the community would react sharply.
