Election campaign with antisemitic touch

Kolomyya – a slanderous campaign has been initiated against Alexander Levitsky, the united opposition candidate. In the district where he plans to run his opponents affixed posters with only two words: “Levitsky, Jid”.

One of the most popular ways of running a slanderous campaign in the region of Galicia is antisemitism and incitement of ethnic hatred.

The word “Jid” has been always considered a slur here. It seems that the authors of the poster wanted to play on the patriotic sentiments of the voters, namely, to send a message: “don’t let the Jid get close to power in a pure Ukrainian region.”
