Flemish Prime Minister ‘shocked by separation wall between Israel and the Palestinians’
Brussels - Prime Minister of Flanders Kris Peeters was quoted as saying he was “shocked by the separation wall that Israel is building”, during a visit this week in Israel.
“The wall reminds me of the ghettos during World War II. Strange, because then the Jews were the victims”, he added according to a report by the Belgian news agency Belga.
In a comment on the minister’s statement, Michael Freilich, chief editor of Joods Actueel, a Jewish magazine in Antwerp, reminded that the security wall between Israel and Palestinians was built to keep out suicide bombers, “not to separate from the Palestinians.”
“Any comparison between the Holocaust and the current conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is totally immoral,” he added.
