The Dervish band has cancelled its performances in the Tel Aviv festival

Belfast – the international cultural boycott of Israel has again raised its head. The Dervish band, one of the greatest names in Irish music will boycott Israel and will not arrive for the performances planned in June.

The representatives of the organization of the cultural boycott of Israel BDS received a message from the band in which they agree that right now it is not the time to perform in Israel because of the country’s treatment of the Palestinians: “Our decision to participate in the Israel festival was completely apolitical” said the band members. “We did not know then that a cultural boycott was in place. We feel that it is inappropriate to break the boycott.”

“Our decision to cancel the performance reflects our position neither to endorse nor to criticize any political view in this situation” the band members added. “Dervish is a group of musical minds, not a political party. Our motivation has always been and will always be our love for music”.
