Points Taken off from Chacarita football club for antisemitic chants
The president of the AFA Disciplinary Court, Fernando Mitjenas has reacted favorably to the fact that the decision to penalize Chacarita for the prejudiced chants against Atlanta by taking off points was made unanimously, since it was an offense of expressing support of criminal activity.
In an interview to Radio 10, Mitjenas said: ”One of the most important factors in reaching the decision was a DVD that was provided by the C5N TV channel, in which it was proven that this was not only a chant expressing xenophobia, but also an offense of expressing support of criminal activity.
To this historic verdict the lawyer added: this was an extraordinary case. Usually we don’t take off points, but in this case the incidents were very serious, since they encouraged killing Jews in order to produce soap” he recalled.
Finally Mitjenas said: ”This court does not support taking off points, but in this case there was a clear cut proof; the decision was made unanimously because it went beyond just folklore or contempt”.
