Skinhead tried to run over Jews

Antwerp - A skinhead drove his vehicle crazily when worshippers were leaving a Jewish religious seminary in Mercatorstraat.  Nobody was hurt.

 

Residence told the JDN that there is no doubt that the driver, who drove off, acted from antisemitic motives, eye witnesses said that the skinhead driver blew his horn and drove wildly in the streets near the railway track shouting out curses and slogans against Jews.

 

The drama in the streets occurred later when a lot of religious Jews who were on their way to prayers to celebrate a religious festival in the synagogues when the driver also mounted the pavement in an attempt to run Jews down.  Miraculously the incident ended with shock only on the part of the seminary worshippers.

 

Despite it being late and nearly sunset, the teacher gave instructions to telephone the police.  The police arrived quickly at the location in large numbers and began an extensive search of the whole area looking for the driver who had taken off.  Heads of the protection organization also came into the picture and assisted the police in their search for the skinhead driver who had escaped with his vehicle. During the festival the heads of the organization were already reporting about a lead  and that the police had already arrested two suspected perpetrators.
