Annual report on racism in Spain - 2016
On Friday, September 16, the Federation of Unions SOS Racism in Spain (Asociaciones de SOS Racismo del Estado Español) has presented its annual report on racism in Spain for 2016 in the Casino de la Reina de Madrid.
The report includes 247 racist incidents that have occurred throughout Spain and 100 cases of hate crimes, all of them showing an unknown reality bubbling under the surface in the Spanish society. This report shows that in 2016, 28% of the cases refer to conflicts and racist attacks, 22.86% relate to complaints about racism in the establishment and 18% refer to cases relating to public security.
